Columbia Heights Monarch Festival

A girl at a Monarch Festival holds a butterfly cutout while examining Monarch caterpillars on milkweed leaves.

Columbia Heights is a national leader in the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge, working to protect endangered pollinators that are a critical link in our food chain. This family-friendly festival celebrates the enchanting world of pollinators in a bilingual setting (English and Spanish). We aim to make the festival more accessible, ensuring that everyone can learn, participate, and connect with the importance of preserving these vital creatures.

The Power of Language and Unity

Why Bilingual?

The Monarch butterfly transcends borders, existing across three nations – Mexico, the United States, and some species in Canada. Embracing both English and Spanish languages at our festival is a testament to our awareness and the truth that we must work together to save this species. We are one world, and we need to collaborate across borders.

Seasonal Immigrant to Minnesota

The Monarch butterfly is a seasonal immigrant to Minnesota, symbolizing the importance of global cooperation in preserving our shared environment.

Let’s come together to support our beautiful Monarch butterflies, all pollinators, and the environment. Your presence and participation make a difference! HeightsNEXT is thrilled to facilitate this event in collaboration with the city of Columbia Heights and community partners. We look forward to celebrating nature, community, and the magic of butterflies with you at the Bilingual Flutter Fiesta!
