The Columbia Heights Peace Breakfast celebrates leaders in nonprofits, faith communities, and elected officials committed to peace, cooperation, understanding, and working together for our community. This year, we will appreciate and recognize people who really stepped up during Metro Surge. We will have a light breakfast catered by Railwerks Brewing Depot in Columbia Heights. We will have music and short presentations by local faith leaders and non-profits. The event’s emcee is Columbia Heights’ Mayor Amáda Márquez Simula.

Proceeds from the tickets will go to Columbia Heights Immigrant and Mutual Aid efforts. This group of volunteers, schools, churches, and organizations in Columbia Heights are providing immediate relief to families affected by the political violence of Operation Metro Surge. These families are struggling to pay rent, buy food, buy medicine, and get transportation. Kids with captured parents are suffering the most. Many of those who were captured have been released. But after being absent from work for weeks or months, it is extremely difficult to rebuild their lives and recover financially. Mutual Aid volunteers give these families enough runway to get back on their feet, stay in their homes, and get back to their jobs.
